Lue Elizondo: Inside the Intelligence Career Behind UAP Disclosure

Luis Elizondo ran the Pentagon's AATIP program before becoming one of the most prominent public advocates for UAP transparency. Here is a look at his career and contributions.

Lue Elizondo AATIP intelligence disclosure

Luis "Lue" Elizondo spent nearly two decades in US Army counterintelligence and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence before becoming the public face of UAP disclosure. From 2010 to 2017, he managed the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), a classified Pentagon effort to study UAP encounters reported by military personnel.

After resigning from the Department of Defense in 2017 in protest over what he described as excessive secrecy, Elizondo joined the To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science alongside former Blink-182 vocalist Tom DeLonge. He helped facilitate the release of three classified US Navy videos, known as FLIR1, GIMBAL, and GOFAST, which the Pentagon officially confirmed in 2020.

Elizondo has since testified before multiple congressional hearings, advocating for the protection of UAP whistleblowers and full legislative disclosure. His memoir, Imminent, was published in 2024.
